Krzysztof Szostak
First Deputy Mayor of the City of Mielec
Krzysztof Szostak is 43 years old. He graduated from the Armia Krajowa Technical School of Construction in Mielec and subsequently earned a degree in Economics (specializing in Trade and Cooperatives) from the University of Rzeszów. He is also a graduate of postgraduate studies at the WSB-NLU (National Louis University) in Nowy Sącz, where he obtained an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
Professional Experience:
For the past 5.5 years, he served as the President of the Management Board of the Municipal Economy Department in Przecław (ZGK w Przecławiu Sp. z o.o.). For nearly twenty years, he was involved in architectural and construction design, managing his own business and collaborating with various design offices. He also worked for three years at Polskie Zakłady Lotnicze (Polish Aviation Works).
Public Activity:
City Council: He has served continuously as a member of the Mielec City Council since 2010.
Committee Leadership: Between 2014 and 2018, he chaired the Commission for Construction and Municipal Economy. Under his leadership, the commission initiated the team responsible for developing the functional-utility program for Mielec’s new sports and entertainment hall.
Social Initiatives: He was actively involved in efforts to launch the “Mieszkanie+” (Housing+) program in Mielec.
History and Culture: He initiated and co-organized numerous historical and cultural events, including the first civic celebrations of the National Remembrance Day of the “Cursed Soldiers,” the reconstruction of the Gestapo prison break in Mielec, and the naming of one of the local roundabouts after the “Cursed Soldiers.”
In the current term, he was re-elected with the highest percentage of support among all city council candidates. He is an active member of several associations and NGOs, as well as a member of the Parish Pastoral Council of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Mielec.
Tomasz Leyko
Second Deputy Mayor of the City of Mielec
Tomasz Leyko is 44 years old. He graduated in Polish Philology and Journalism from the Pedagogical Academy in Kraków (now the Pedagogical University).
Professional Experience:
Journalism: He worked at the Rzeszów branch of TVP SA as a sports journalist, commentator, and Mielec correspondent. He collaborated with the national sports desk of TVP SA in Warsaw and TVP3.
Editorial Leadership: He was a co-founder and the first editor-in-chief of Korso Kolbuszowskie (2007). He later worked for the Nowiny daily newspaper as a sports journalist and editor, while also serving as a correspondent for the diocesan radio station RDN Małopolska. His earlier experience includes work with Mielec Cable Television, Radio Puls FM, and Przegląd Sportowy.
Sports Production: He managed music and audio arrangements for major sports events, collaborating with the Poland Handball Federation (ZPRP), the Polish Olympic Committee, the Polish Ice Hockey Federation, and various sports clubs in Mielec.
Regional Administration: From June 2013, he worked at the Marshal’s Office of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, serving as the Press Spokesperson for Marshal Władysław Ortyl and Head of the Press Office.
Memberships and Passions:
Since 2017, he has been a member of the Program Council of TVP Rzeszów, and since 2021, he has sat on the Program and Artistic Council of the Artur Malawski Podkarpackie Philharmonic in Rzeszów. He is passionate about sports and regional history. He is the author of the book “Biało-niebieska” (White and Blue), published to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Stal Mielec sports club.
Private Life:
He is a happy husband and father to 12-year-old Franek and 8-year-old Zosia.
