A city municipality in northern France (Brittany), Finistère department, at the estuary of the River Morlaix to the Atlantic Ocean. It has about 15 thousand inhabitants.
It prides itself with a documented 1000 years of history, but its origins may go back to Roman times, because several roads intersected in this region. The population worked the land and traded. Witnesses to the rich past are numerous historic buildings, which have survived to our times.
Today, Morlaix is a regional commercial and industrial centre, known for the production of tobacco. The charming city and picturesque surroundings attract tourists.
